Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that can occur inside or the ovaries. The function of your ovaries is to produce eggs (ovulation) and female sex hormones. Large cysts can cause as pain and affect fertility.
Diagnosis is usually made by having a trans vaginal ultrasound scan. Occasionally a blood test (Ca-125) to check for the risk of cancer is done.
Treatment would depend on your symptoms and the size of the cyst. Often the resolve naturally however in some cases surgery is required. This is usually straight forward using key hole techniques.
Mr Valentine Akande will help you decide if surgery is required and if so will undertake the surgery himself.
