Do we need to do anything before we attend BCRM?
To ensure we have all the necessary information available to offer a full diagnosis and the best advice, you will need to undergo some tests a minimum of 3 days before your consultation. We will arrange these with you, and all tests are included in the price.
What is included in a Fertility MOT?
Heterosexual Couple MOT:
- Female Fertility Blood Tests
- Detailed Semen Analysis
- Diagnostic Transvaginal Ultrasound (TVS)
- Consultation with one of our fertility specialists
Same-Sex Couple MOT:
- Female Fertility Blood Tests (both partners)
- Diagnostic Transvaginal Ultrasound (TVS) (both partners)
- Consultation with one of our fertility specialists
Single Female MOT:
- Female Fertility Blood Tests
- Diagnostic Transvaginal Ultrasound (TVS)
- Consultation with one of our fertility specialists
Male Fertility MOT:
- Enhanced Plus Semen Analysis
- Male Blood Profile (LH/FSH/Testosterone/Prolactin)
- Consultation with one of our fertility specialists
Female fertility blood tests include:
- AMH: Anti-mullerian hormone: provides an indicator of how many eggs you have left in your ovary and how far away you are from the menopause
- Chlamydia: Helps us assess the risk of previous infection which may result in tubes being blocked or affected by scar tissue
- FBC: Full blood count: checks for anaemia and infection, gives us a idea of your general wellbeing
- FSH / LH: Follicle Stimulating Hormone / Luteinising Hormone: helps determine if you are likely to be ovulating each month
- TSH: Thyroid stimulating hormone: helps us make sure your thyroid gland is not over or under active
- Rubella: It helps to know that you are immune to rubella infection which can be potentially harmful to an unborn baby
For the most accurate results the female blood tests for the fertility MOT should be taken on days 2-4 of your menstrual cycle
What happens during my appointment?
Your consultation will last around 60 minutes and will include the following:
- Transvaginal ultrasound scan of the uterus (womb) and ovaries
- Discussion of the results of the blood tests
- Discussion of sperm test report (if heterosexual / solo male)
- Expert advice on further tests or treatment if required
- The opportunity to ask any questions or discuss specific concerns
- A written summary of all findings
