Why should I become a sperm donor?

If you’ve never donated your sperm before, you might wonder why you should start now.

We believe sperm donors deserve the same level of high-quality care as those undergoing fertility treatment. So, we hold telephone consultations to discuss the process and counselling sessions before you donate so you can decide with confidence.

We also perform a semen analysis, which benefits the recipients and you. You’ll gain deep insight into your reproductive health while knowing that your healthy sperm will be used to help others.

If we accept you as a donor, we’ll ask you to donate weekly for a six to 12-month period, with a £45 expense payment offered for each donation you make. When you choose to donate your sperm, you’ll give others a special gift that you can feel incredibly proud of.

Why should I donate my eggs?

Donating your eggs is a selfless gift to another that can change their lives for the better. You can help others start the family they’ve always wanted but been unable to achieve, and feel proud to have been a part of their journey.

We’ll ensure you undergo thorough fertility testing, so you can learn more about your reproductive health during the process. BCRM offers counselling to women wanting to donate their eggs so they can fully understand the implications and what it means for them. We want your decision to be correct and empower you to make it by providing all the information you need.

We compensate our egg donors with £750 to cover your expenses and time, as we want you to know how much we value you. By becoming an egg donor at BCRM, you can help other people with their fertility journey while receiving dedicated care and support from our fertility specialists.

How to become an egg donor

These ten steps will help complete the process if you’re considering donating your eggs at our Bristol egg donor clinic. We’ll be with you at every step of the way, so you can be certain your health and wellbeing are being prioritised.

  1. First, you’ll complete a short online questionnaire.

  2. You’ll then be invited for a blood test that checks your anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels if you meet our egg donors’ criteria. This is also a good indicator of your ovarian reserve.

  3. Let’s say your AMH levels are higher than ten. In that case, you’ll fill out another, more detailed online questionnaire that covers different aspects of your health. A doctor will review this form and you’ll move on to the next step if you’re suitable for donation.

  4. Next, you’ll have some blood tests to check things like your hormones and screen for infections, such as HIV and hepatitis B and C. You’ll also provide a urine sample, which will check for sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia. Finally, you’ll complete a smoking test to ensure you aren’t a smoker.

  5. We offer counselling to all our egg donors so you’ll understand what the procedure means and the implications of egg donation.

  6. A transvaginal scan is the next step. This is an internal scan that assesses both your womb and ovaries.

  7. You’ll then have a follow-up doctor’s appointment where they’ll talk about your medical form, blood test results and transvaginal scan. They’ll also ask you about your family history.

  8. Afterwards, you can start taking a medication that increases your follicles (sacs containing eggs). We’ll provide all the information you need about the process and how to take the medicine. We’ll also monitor your progress and perform regular scans.

  9. We’ll make your egg collection appointment. The appointment takes just over an hour and a half to complete and we’ll ensure you’re fully recovered before you head home.

  10. Finally, we’ll compensate you for your time and expenses – this compensation is £985. We’ll give you £600 after the egg collection and the other £385 when you return in three months for a final blood test.

We ensure our egg donors receive all the care and support they need on this gift-giving journey.
