Today July 25, is World Embryologist Day, which celebrates the birth in 1978 of Louise Joy Brown, the world’s first IVF baby.

Happy Birthday Louise !

Louise’s birth, the result of her brave and pioneering parents and the hard work and commitment of Dr. Robert Edwards, Dr. Patrick Steptoe, and Nurse Jean Purdy has given us the opportunity to create the thousands of BCRM IVF babies alive today.

BCRM’s scientific director, Paul Wilson, recently shared his thoughts on the 40 years of progress in reproductive science in Bristol and the laboratory developments that have led us to the success rates we currently have.

We celebrate the outstanding team of scientists - embryologists, andrologists, STP embryologists and IVF technologists at BCRM and thank them for their expertise, hard work, commitment and the endless care and support they provide to our patients. Well done ‘the Lab’ !
